Biography - C.J. Love

Charles J. Love, MD is an internationally known electrophysiologist and arrhythmia device specialist.  He was appointed to The Ohio State University Division of Cardiovascular Medicine in 1987 as Director of Cardiac Rhythm Device Services.  He currently serves in this position, as well as being a Professor of Internal Medicine.  He is also serving as the Director of the Electrophysiology Fellowship Training Program.  He specializes in the techniques of implanting heart rhythm devices such as pacemakers, defibrillators, cardiac resynchronization devices, and hemodynamic monitoring devices.  He is best known for his work in extraction of chronically implanted pacing and defibrillator leads.  He is recognized as a pioneer and one of the top lead extraction experts in the world.  He has participated in numerous clinical trials, and regularly consults with cardiac rhythm device companies and extraction device companies regarding the design of new devices.

Dr. Love graduated from the University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine after receiving a BA in Biology at Earlham College in Richmond, Indiana.  He completed all of his training after medical school at The Ohio State University in Columbus, Ohio.  He is board certified in Internal Medicine, Cardiovascular Disease, and Clinical Cardiac Electrophysiology.  In addition, he has passed the Examination for Competence in Cardiac Pacing and Defibrillators, was appointed to the examination development committee, and currently serves as president of the International Board of Heart Rhythm Examiners (formerly NASPExAM, Inc).  Dr. Love has implanted over 5000 devices and has removed in excess of 3000 pacing and defibrillator leads.  He has authored many papers and book chapters, as well as a single author book on basic cardiac pacing and defibrillation.
